Paul Nicholson, a collateralized mortgage obligation trader at Merrill Lynch in New York, has left and plans to join Amherst Securities, a broker-dealer in Greenwich, Conn., according to Sean Dobson, president and ceo in Austin, Texas. Nicholson, who starts next month, declined to comment. His responsibilities will become clear once he starts, Dobson noted.
At Merrill, Nicholson reported to Scott Soltas, group head of asset-backeds, mortgage-backeds and collateralized debt obligations. Soltas did not return a call by press time.
