John DeCoursey, formerly a managing director and private placement trader at The Seaport Group, has joined Banc of America Securities to bolster its private placement trading group, sources said. DeCoursey will be reporting to Michael Meyer, head of corporate bond trading at B of A.

Before joining Seaport, DeCoursey focused on private placement debt sales as a senior v.p. with US Bancorp Libra. Prior to that, DeCoursey traded both investment grade and high-yield corporate bonds at Jefferies & Co., Cedar Street Securities and Wolfe & Hurst Bond Brokers. At Seaport, he worked under Stephen Smith, managing director and co-head of sales. A B of A official confirmed the hiring. DeCoursey did not return calls.
