Mark Wirth, a former fixed-income portfolio manager at Northern Trust, has joined Freddie Mac in McLean, Va. Wirth, who joined earlier this month and had been out of the mortgage market for more than a year, according to a dealer who used to work with him, starts as a director. Functionally, he will be a senior strategist of mortgage strategy and analytics in the sales and trading group, according to Patricia Boerger, spokeswoman for Freddie Mac. Wirth now reports to Brian Brandenburg, v.p. of mortgage strategy and analytics.
Wirth was on vacation last week and did not return a call. In his old role, he was also director of research at Northern Trust, as well as being a portfolio manager.
