Cyril Theccanat, managing director in institutional fixed-income investment management at U.S. Trust in New York, starts this week at Smith, Graham & Co. Asset Management as executive v.p. and managing director of fixed income.

Cyril Theccanat, managing director in institutional fixed-income investment management at U.S. Trust in New York, starts this week at Smith, Graham & Co. Asset Management as executive v.p. and managing director of fixed income. The role is a new one at the Houston-based manager, which has $2.3 billion under management, said Jamie House, executive v.p. and chief operating officer. Theccanat will manage several of Smith, Graham & Co.'s flagship accounts in core funds across most fixed-income asset classes.

Theccanat, who was in transition moving to Houston and could not be reached, reports directly to Gerald Smith, chairman and ceo of the firm. House added the firm is not actively looking to hire anyone else but said it hired Theccanat to add depth and quality to the fixed-income organization. At U.S. Trust, Theccanat reported to Alex Powers, head of institutional fixed income. Powers did not return calls by press time.
