Royal Bank of Scotland has hired three fixed-income salesmen for its Frankfurt office, bringing the team to five professionals in an effort to enhance distribution to German investors.
Andreas Steinmetz, director in sales and marketing and a nine-year veteran of the rates group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in Frankfurt, starts this week as a senior salesman in rates/liquid products. He will sell government bonds, covered bonds and flow swaps and reports to Paul Gilbert in London, head of rates/liquid products sales for the U.K. and Europe. Steinmetz was on gardening leave and could not be reached and Gilbert declined comment.
The other hires are Astrid van der Spek and Esther Bultmann, both saleswomen with four years experience in credit and structured credit at Commerzbank and Goldman Sachs, respectively. They recently started in credit sales covering clients in Germany, Holland and Switzerland; both report to Al Sinsheimer, head of financial institutions rates and credit sales in London. The new hires declined comment and Sinsheimer did not return calls.
At Dresdner, Steinmetz reported to Christian Haller, head of European covered bond origination and co-head of capital markets sales and marketing--Germany and Austria. Haller said a couple of new hires will be starting on the team later this month, declining further comment.
Van der Spek reported to Avril Pomper, head of credit and structured credit sales at Commerzbank in London. Pomper said van der Spek's responsibilities have been taken by another member of the team. Bultmann reported to Kevin Bond, who heads up the credit sales team in Frankfurt for Goldman. He declined comment.
