Nomura Securities International is looking for an agency strategist with experience in other liquid products and may begin interviewing candidates early next year.
The new recruit would report to David Jacob, managing director of international research. Jacob said the hire should have experience with government bonds, swaps and volatilities, and would coordinate with the firm's European government analyst in London.
The hire would be a replacement for Tain Schneider, who left about two months ago for a market strategist position at Medley Global Advisors, an independent research firm focusing on government policy. A call to Schneider was not returned.
Jacob stressed he is in no rush to find a replacement because the responsibilities have been taken over in the interim by Arthur Frank, director of MBS research who covers legislation in the agency market, and John Dunlevy, director of fixed income strategy. He has been offering relative value ideas. Nomura is also looking to hire an agency trader (BW, 11/1).
