Bob Johnson, head of fixed-income sales at Nomura Securities International in New York and a veteran of the dealer community, left the firm last week after only a couple weeks on the job. Johnson, who was formerly head of asset securitization and investment-grade sales at Banc of America Securities, joined Nomura earlier this year after being recruited for several months by the firm.
Johnson replaced Josh Edelson, managing director and national sales manager, who left in December. Johnson did not return calls. Prior to working at BofA, Johnson was at Prudential Securities.
A former colleague said Johnson's quick departure is surprising. "His network and Rolodex are as big and deep as anyone's. He should have known well what he was getting into," the former colleague said.
Further details about Johnson's Jan. 21 departure from Nomura could not be determined by press time. A call to Najib Canaan, head of fixed income, was referred to Ralph Piscitelli, spokesman. He declined comment.
