Dan Lonski, whole loan mortgage trader at Merrill Lynch in New York, has left the firm and is joining J.P. Morgan in a mortgage trading role, also in New York. It is unclear whether he will work in a similar capacity at J.P. Morgan as he did as Merrill or whether he will work away from the whole loan area, according to an official familiar with his move. Lonski and Bill King, managing director and co-head of mortgage-, asset- and commercial-mortgage backed securities, did not return calls. Further details about Lonski's new role could not be ascertained.
A Merrill Lynch official directed inquiries on Lonski to Terez Hanhan, spokeswoman, who declined comment.
