Ted Ake, a longtime veteran of the Treasury and agency trading market, starts later this month at Mizuho Securities. Ake, who has been out of the market for more than a year and was most recently on the agency syndicate desk at Wachovia Securities in Charlotte, N.C., will manage the agency trading desk at Mizuho. The firm's fixed-income department is currently located in Hoboken, N.J., but will move to New York later this year.
Ake, who has more than 20 years of sell-side trading experience, spent the last year building homes across Latin America in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. He said he is looking forward to returning to the fixed-income community and to working with old colleagues from his days at the former Fuji Securities, which was one of three firms to merge and form Mizhuo in 2000.
William Jarosak, ceo of Mizuho's securities arm and head of its primary dealership, declined to discuss Ake's appointment.
