BNY Capital Markets is looking to hire an institutional fixed-income salesman for its fledgling mortgage- and asset-backed securities desk in New York. While the bank had previously traded mortgage-backed securities in a smaller capacity, it created a dedicated effort in the form of a separate desk at the start of the year and is now looking to add a salesman, according to an official at the bank.
The new recruit will report to Chris Gleason, head of taxable fixed-income trading, and will join him and a handful of other salesmen on the desk. Gleason declined comment. The firm is looking for a salesman with an existing book of business with mid-tier banks and institutions and at least three years of experience. The bank is focusing on mid-tier clients because its desk is still new, according to the BNY official.
