WestLB's North American investment banking corporate finance group has brought on board James McGovern as a director. He will report to Bryan Rolfe, group head of WestLB's media, entertainment and telecom group. McGovern's responsibilities will include calling on middle-market corporates and financial sponsors and providing them with leadership capital and leveraged financial advice. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley as a v.p. in leveraged finance working with financial sponsors.
"Jim brings a lot of leveraged market experience to WestLB, which rounds out our veteran ranks," Rolfe said. "The addition of Jim just shows our growing commitment to the media and entertainment space." The group is currently involved in three publishing deals, which should become public in the upcoming weeks.
Before joining Morgan Stanley, McGovern spent six years at TD Securities working in fixed income propriety trading research, investment banking and high-yield origination, where he participated in a number of media, telecom, publishing and wireless affiliate deals. Rolfe was also previously at TD. "Bryan is building up leveraged finance within the media telecom sector and I thought it was a fantastic opportunity to use my leveraged finance execution skills," McGovern said.
