Katonah Debt Advisors has hired Phil Theohardies and Dave Duncan to focus on structured credit product investing, according to Chris Lacovara, a principal at Kohlberg & Co., which owns Katonah. He would not elaborate on what that product will be.
Theohardies had previously been Katonah Capital's chief operating officer until November 2003, when he was replaced by Nancy Schulman. Schulman left in the spring of 2005 and Katonah no longer has a chief operating officer position. The Management Committee oversees the management company and the portfolio managers oversee the individual funds, Lacovara said. Duncan joins from CIBC World Markets, where he was a senior member of the collateralized debt obligation structuring group.
In February, the firm hired Dayl Pearson from CIBC to serve as the portfolio manager for its new middle-market collateralized loan obligation, Ardsley I, which will be done with Lehman Brothers. It also hired Jon Corless from Trimaran Advisors as a senior credit manager focusing on middle-market assets (CIN, 3/6).
It also hired two new analysts, Catherine Scaillier and Michael Hadley. Scaillier, a senior analyst, is focused on the defense, aerospace, automotive, consumer products and food sectors. Before joining Katonah she was a director at BNP Paribas, where she covered private equity firms and structured senior, mezzanine, bridge and high-yield financing for leveraged buyouts. Hadley, an analyst, is focused on the apparel and retail, industrial manufacturing, and metals and mining industries. Before joining Katonah he was a high-yield bond analyst at First Investors Corp.
