Barclays Hires CIBC Loan Salesman

Barclays Capital has hired Chris Dowicz, a former loan salesman at CIBC World Markets, to join its expanding leveraged finance platform. He will be a director of bank loan sales, reporting to Rick Van Zijl, co-head of leveraged finance in the U.S., and will start in mid-May. Barclays recently hired two other senior loan salesmen, Ed Kearns from UBS and Jack Melnikoff from Goldman Sachs (CIN, 4/24).

Dowicz declined to comment on his move. It is the second hire Barclays has made from CIBC in the past few weeks; the bank also hired Ian Palmer, former v.p. and executive director of capital markets.
