HSBC Securities has hired Rob Matelwich from Barclays Capital to run its agency, sovereign and supranational trading desk. He did not respond to a phone message and e-mail seeking comment. He will oversee five traders in London and New York and report to Andrew Lombara, the head of HSBC's government bond trading desk. Prior to joining Barclays in 2001, he had spent 13 years at Salomon Brothers.
