Calyon Americas has snared a leveraged finance pro from CIBC World Markets and is looking to power up its New York-based loan syndication group. Barbara Kellc, managing director and head of Calyon's loan syndication group, said the French bank will be "Trying to beef up the loan syndication department to be consistent with the size of our merged bank."
Vincent Spencer joined as a director of the structuring team in loan syndication. He had previously been an executive director in the leverage finance group at CIBC. Spencer is focusing on developing syndicated loans in diversified industries and will be working with the Los Angeles and Chicago offices and also with Calyon's transportation and lodging groups. "We likely will be looking for a couple of new key hires in the months to come," Kellc added. She could not comment on how many positions the bank would be filling or what their responsibilities would be. Spencer reports to Amy Trapp, managing director and head of structuring of the loan syndications group, who worked with Spencer at CIBC and joined the French bank back in September. Ray Smith, managing director and head of credit products for the U.S., did not return calls. Spencer did not return a call.
Credit Agricole Indosuez and the corporate and investment banking division of Credit Lyonnais merged last April. The combined group has since been rebranded Calyon.
