Barclay's Capital has hired three individuals from Goldman Sachs' high-yield capital markets groups. David Scudellari was a managing director at Goldman and Jeff Rowbottom and Mark Jenkins were both vice presidents. It is believed they will report to Joseph McGrath, a Goldman alumnus who was hired in November by Barclay's. A Goldman Sachs spokesman declined comment. Calls to McGrath were not returned and Scudellari, Rowbottom and Jenkins could not be reached.
It could not be determined what the trio will do at Barclay's and because of contractual obligations, it could not be determined when they will start. These hirings, along with the addition of McGrath and Rick Van Zijl, who was also hired in November to work in the leveraged loan group, may indicate Barclay's is making a run at increasing its presence on the leveraged side, one banker said.
At Goldman, the responsibilities of Scudellari, Rowbottom and Jenkins have been absorbed by other members of their group and it is unknown when or whether they will be replaced.
