UK, Netherlands float tax hike for rental properties

The governments of the UK and the Netherlands are considering tax changes that will impact buy-to-let (BTL) mortgage origination in each country, hitting the two largest markets for BTL RMBS.

UK chancellor Rishi Sunak plans to raise both capital gains tax and corporation tax, along with other measures intended to plug the £30bn hole in the budget left by the coronavirus emergency response, according to leaks published by The Times.
