FleetBoston Financial has hired Joseph Mackiewicz as managing director and head of asset securitization. He joins from Citigroup where he was a managing director in the global securitized markets group. Calls to Mackiewicz were referred to Alison Gibbs, a spokeswoman with the Boston-based bank. Gibbs says the position is a newly created one.
Mackiewicz will be in charge of both the term asset-backed securities and asset-backed commercial paper business, replacing John Molloy, the former de facto head of ABCP who left in June (BW, 6/20). Mackiewicz will report to Mary-Etta Schneider, managing director and head of capital markets. Gibbs says that one of the reasons for Mackiewicz's move was to relocate to Massachusetts, his home state. It could not be determined whether Mackiewicz's position will be filled at Citigroup.
