Cantor Adds High-Yield Director

James Messing, senior v.p. at boutique dealer Imperial Capital, has joined Cantor Fitzgerald in the new role of director of high-yield sales "We will continue to add to our staff and we'll see where we go from there," Messing said.

James Messing, senior v.p. at boutique dealer Imperial Capital, has joined Cantor Fitzgerald in the new role of director of high-yield sales "We will continue to add to our staff and we'll see where we go from there," Messing said. The group will seek to hire about 10 salesmen across the course of the next year.

Messing reports to Irv Goldman, president and ceo of debt capital markets at Cantor in New York. Goldman was hired last year to build a fixed-income sales and trading business at Cantor. "Messing's addition is part of our continued expansion: we've hired 100 people in the last several months and will continue hiring another 100," said Goldman.

At Imperial Capital, Messing reported to Brian Hannon, senior v.p. He did not return a call by press time. Previously, Messing also worked at Advest Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston and the former Salomon Brothers.
