The Bond Market Association has hired Mary Kuan as the principal staff advisor to the association's corporate credit market division, and v.p. and assistant general counsel. She will report to Lynnette Hotchkiss, senior v.p. and associate general counsel with supervisory responsibility for the association's corporate credit markets, municipal securities, mortgage-backed securities and securitized products, funding and government and agency divisions.
Kuan will focus on various initiatives, including best execution and guidelines for appropriate mark-up rules, as well as other legal and regulatory efforts. These are ongoing initiatives the BMA is focused on and there are no current updates on the progress of the projects.
"I used to work at a large N.Y. law firm where I did a lot of transactions and was exposed to a lot of banks and this is a good opportunity to continue to be involved in that market and make more of an impact on regulation that affects the securities industry," Kuan said.
She previously worked at the law firm, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett as a corporate associate in capital markets and mergers & acquisitions.
