Retail properties suffer most severe CMBS losses in Q2, says Moody’s

Losses on liquidated CMBS loans ticked up higher during the second quarter of the year, with retail properties showing the worst loss severities among the major property types.

Among the main CMBS property types, loans backed by retail properties showed the highest loss severities during the second quarter, according to data from Moody’s on Thursday. During the quarter, 60 loans backed by retail properties were liquidated with aggregate losses of $577.6m and loss severities of 62.9%.
