Tom Hudson has left Amroc Investments to take time off from the business, according to those familiar with him. Hudson, a distressed trader, was at Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs before landing at Amroc last year. Spokesmen at Amroc did not offer any official comment on Hudson's departure. He could not be reached for comment.
Hudson was the head distressed trader at Goldman until being let go in 1999 after admitting he'd had an extramarital affair with a colleague. He sued the firm for wrongful termination, but the case was thrown out. At the time Hudson said he would appeal the decision. Those willing to comment on Hudson's departure spoke highly of him. "He was great, very tough, very dedicated. He was a tremendous asset," said a dealer. "You need [his skills] to make it in this environment. He just took some time off. He's been in the business for several years, and he's reevaluating."
