Charles Wyman, a high-yield telecom analyst and principal, has left Morgan Stanley Dean Witter for Pacific Investment Management Company in Newport Beach, Ca., according to BW sister publication Telecom Financing Week. A PIMCO official confirms the hire, but did not have his starting date or title. He did note that Wyman will be reporting to Craig Dawson, the head of the high-yield group. Wyman had been based in New York.
A member of MSDW's telecom corporate finance team says that the firm is actively seeking a replacement for a middle-level or senior high-yield telecom analyst to serve as a v.p. or a managing director of the high-yield telecom research group. The analyst would cover the wireline industry, which would include companies such as XO Communications and Time Warner. The banker says the slot is currently unfilled and would not speculate as to when a new hire would be found. The replacement will report to Bill Reiland, head of high-yield research. Reiland was traveling and did not return calls by press time.
