GoldenTree Hires Sales Veteran, Trader

GoldenTree Asset Management has made a pair of new hires as it looks to continue growing assets. The firm hired Frank Jordan, a veteran high-yield salesman and the 1998 BondWeek sales executive of the year, to the new position of director of client services, according to a senior high-yield buy-sider with knowledge of the move. He will report to Leon Wagner, chairman of the New York-based firm, which in its three-year history has grown assets to just under $4 billion.

Jordan last worked at DrKW-Grantchester, but left amid severe cutbacks at that firm in December (BW, 12/15).

Jordan will take a newly created position, marketing the New York money manager's products to institutional investors. Both he and Wagner declined comment.

Separately, the firm hired Corey Geis as a trader focused on bank loans, though he will also trade high-yield bonds, equities, and other securities, according to a senior buyside official. He will report to Josh Press and Linda Grillo, trading heads. Geis declined comment when reached at his desk and Grillo did not return a call. Geis joins from TD Securities, where he worked in loan sales and trading, reporting to Mark Sorensen, trading head, and Greg Hurley, sales head. Sorensen declined to comment.
