Ed Orenstein, the head of RBS Greenwich Capital's primary dealership, has taken a leave of absence from the firm and will return "sometime in September," according to Sheldon Goldfarb, the firm's general counsel. Orenstein had already departed and was unavailable for comment. The departure was initially grist for the dealer trading desk rumor mill, given the fact that leaves of absence are generally infrequently granted by dealers, and are often used to investigate employee conduct. Goldfarb says "it made sense to work something out for Ed, since he's had an incredible streak up here for us for many years." Indeed, Orenstein has been at GCM since 1989 and been running the primary dealership since the mid-90s. In his absence, he says Paul Yablon will run dealership trading with Kevin Rusch acting as his deputy. Rob Roberto will continue to run liquid product sales.
