Lehman Brothers has hired Charles Short as a senior high-yield salesman, according to another salesman with knowledge of the situation. Short, who reports to Tom Humphrey, head of credit sales at Lehman, joins from Citigroup, where he held a similar position and spent roughly 10 years. Short and Humphrey did not return calls, nor did Vincent Lima, head of high yield sales at Citigroup.
Lehman has seen a number of changes in its high-yield sales group in recent months, as Humphrey took over management of the group from Bob Burke. Recent departures include Burke himself, who is starting a hedge fund and has reportedly attracted several investors in the U.S. and Europe. Burke declined comment.
Other recent departures from the high yield sales group include Jim Motherway, a senior v.p. who joined Raymond James, Jay Durkin, a managing director who retired, and Emmett O'Hara, who moved to a different area of the firm. Jeff Seymour also left the sales group at Lehman very briefly, but then returned after two days. Those people either declined comment or did not return calls.
