XL Capital Assurance has hired Christine Brunie, formerly of Fitch Ratings, as a surveillance analyst in the monoline's asset-backed group. Brunie, who joins as a director, started work at XLCA in New York last week. The position is a new role.
Brunie reports to Dick Heberton, senior managing director for surveillance and research at the upstart monoline, according to a firm spokesman. She will conduct surveillance on the ABS transactions wrapped by XLCA. At Fitch, Brunie was a director in the residential mortgage-backed group, where she reported to Cheryl Glory, managing director and head of prime RMBS. Glory confirmed Brunie's departure and said the rating agency is looking to replace her at the director level.
