Merrill Sales MD Said To Be Eyeing Move To BofA

BondWeek is the leading news publication for fixed-income professionals, covering new deals, structures, asset-backed securities, industry and market activity.

Marti Newman, a managing director in high grade sales at Merrill Lynch with roughly 20 years of experience, has received an offer from Banc of America Securities to join the firm, according to people with knowledge of the situation. As of last Wednesday, her status was still up in the air, as there was reportedly still a possibility that Merrill would convince her to stay at the firm.

A call to Newman was not returned. Calls to Jonathan David, head of investment grade sales at B of A, and Doug Mallach and John Shaffer, co-heads at Merrill were also not returned.
