Thames River Capital, a London-based investment manager, is planning to launch two sovereign bond funds in the autumn. One fund will be long-only and the other will be a hedge fund. Both will invest in G-10 sovereign bonds, says Edward Morse, director of sales. Morse says he hopes to initially raise £50 million for each fund.
The firm will launch the funds once two new hires come on board later this summer. Paul Thursby and Peter Geicke-Cobb are both prominent sovereign bond managers who have joined Thames River for the purpose of creating the new sovereign offerings. Thursby joins from Baring Asset Management where he managed the Baring Global Bond Trust. Geicke-Cobb most recently was the global head of fixed-income at Insight Investment Management, formerly Rothschild Investment Management.
