Keefe, Bruyette Continues Growing Bond Biz

BondWeek is the leading news publication for fixed-income professionals, covering new deals, structures, asset-backed securities, industry and market activity.

Keefe, Bruyette & Woods has made a number of recent hires in its fixed-income area. Sales desks in Atlanta and London will be open for business within the next month, as the firm has added three to four salespeople between the two cities, says Craig Coats, co-head of fixed-income. The salespeople are generalists, who will sell mortgage-backed, agency and corporate securities. The firm continues to look for mid-market sales help in furthering expansion plans laid out at the beginning out the year (BW, 1/19).

In New York, the firm has hired Seth Kurland to the new position of v.p. and insurance sector analyst. He reports to Jay Weintraub, head of what is now a two man research team. He joins from Prudential Financial where he worked for over six years. Kurland declined comment. Coats says no additional hires are planned for research for the foreseeable future. A call toRich Greenwood, head of research at Prudential, was not returned.
