Credit Suisse First Boston has hired Brendan Connolly as a director in its investment-grade trading group. Connolly will trade crossover credits and report to Peter Nason, co-head of investment-grade trading. A call to Nason was not returned. Connolly joins from Deutsche Bank, where he reported to Brian McGrath, head of high-yield trading. A call to McGrath was not returned. Connolly, who declined to comment when reached at CSFB, had worked there earlier in his career, but left shortly after the merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette
CSFB will also be adding Peter Meyer, a high yield trader and v.p. at Putnam Investments, according to sell-side traders at other firms. Meyer could not be reached, and a call to Steve Peacher, head of high yield, was referred to Nancy Fisher, a spokeswoman at Putnam. She says Meyer will leave the firm at the end of the month, but does not know what his plans are. She says the firm is still evaluating how best to replace him. The traders say Meyer will join CSFB's high-yield desk, but that could not be confirmed. A call to Joe Russell, head of high-yield trading at CSFB, was not returned.
