State Street Research & Management, an investor in and manager of collateralized debt obligations, has added to its structured finance team. Ron D'Vari, managing director and head of structured finance in Boston, says the buy-sider has hired David Burt to work on surveillance of its asset-backed portfolio. Burt was previously an analyst at Property & Portfolio Research, an independent real estate research shop in Boston. He started at State Street, an asset management arm of MetLife that is unrelated to State Street Global Advisors, last month. He now reports to D'Vari, who says Burt will focus on maintaining econometric models of the firm's investments in ABS, noting the role has been added as the firm has taken on more structured finance assets. It now manages more than $10 billion in ABS and mortgage-backeds.
