CSFB Ginnie Trader Returns To Whole Loan Roots

BondWeek is the leading news publication for fixed-income professionals, covering new deals, structures, asset-backed securities, industry and market activity.

James Pettit, Credit Suisse First Boston's Ginnie Mae trader, has left the firm to join many of his former colleagues at The Winter Group, a whole-loan collateralized mortgage boutique founded by former CSFB residential MBS co-head Rich Winter after he was dismissed from CSFB in November 2001. Pettit had left the firm and was unavailable to comment and his Bloomberg account had been de-activated; Rich Winter was unavailable to comment. The Winter Group is comprised of nearly a dozen former CSFB whole loan structurers, sales pros and origination specialists, all of whom originally came from Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Pettit's duties at CSFB will be assumed by 30-year pass-through trading chief Stefan D'Annibale, who declined comment when reached at his desk. Pettit had been at CSFB for three years, says a former colleague, two of which were spent on CSFB's high-profile whole-loan trading desk.
