Caxton Associates, the giant New York-based hedge fund, has hired two mortgage-backed securities veterans, Mike Antilety and Jim Nimberg, to expand its desk, according to a Caxton official. Antilety and Nimberg were unavailable to comment. Both will report to MBS desk head Geoff Greener. Antilety is the more high-profile of the two, having spent several years analyzing, trading and ultimately helping to manage Freddie Mac's multi-billion dollar pass-through portfolio. He left voluntarily two weeks ago, unlike several of his colleagues, who resigned as part of the continuing shakeup of the scandal-plagued mortgage guarantor. At Caxton, he will trade pass-throughs.
Nimberg, who had been at J.P. Morgan Securities, will trade interest-and principal-only securities for the fund. He had been a junior trader at J.P. Morgan for a little over one year, having spent several years at Credit Suisse First Boston and before that, Lehman Brothers, as an MBS analyst.
