Blaylock & Partners , a boutique, plans to hire up to a dozen fixed income salesmen, traders and analysts next year. Ronald Blaylock , chairman and ceo, says the company is putting the finishing touches on a two-year, nationwide expansion plan. "We wanted to expand the platform significantly to give us more depth and more reach," he says. The hires will be for new roles and will be based in New York. As part of its expansion, Blaylock recently opened new offices in Chicago, San Francisco and Austin, Texas. The firm caters to large companies as well as the middle market--its more traditional niche--with an integrated fixed income and equity research product that provides "a more multifaceted view of the companies in our coverage universe," according to Blaylock. He says it is especially interested in hiring high yield research specialists.
The planned hires come shortly after the firm added veteran fixed income professionals to its New York office. James Tammaro , a former head of Merrill Lynch 's fixed income sales business, recently joined Blaylock as head of fixed income, while Gregory Swenson , formerly a senior v.p. of fixed income sales at Lehman Brothers , joined as a managing director in fixed income sales.
