* Barclays Capital recently announced the hiring of Mark Howard as global head of credit research, based in New York. Howard comes from Lehman Brothers where he was head of credit strategy. Howard will report to Thomas Kalaris, chief executive for Barclays in the Americas. Gary Jenkins, the previous head of credit research at Barclays is taking a sabbatical.
* Mark Miller, co-head fixed income institutional sales, recently left Citigroup Global Markets to join Banc Of America Securities as global head of fixed-income institutional sales.
* Dennis Kraft is joining Wachovia Securities as a director and head of consumer asset-backed securities research. He will report to Brian Lancaster, managing director and head of structured products research. Kraft, a longtime buy-siders, was earlier with Conning Asset Management as managing director and head of credit research and trading focusing on ABS and CMBS. Prior to that, he was head of the ABS group at Hartford Investment Management.
* Ken Hackel, formerly a fixed-income strategist and head of the mortgage research department at Merrill Lynch, will join RBS Greenwich Capital as a managing director and co-head of fixed-income strategy. He will report to Ben Carpenter and Jay Levine, co CEOs at RBS.
