Summers Joins Latham & Watkins

Jane Summers, the former executive v.p. and general counsel of the Loan Syndications & Trading Association, has joined Latham & Watkins.

Jane Summers, the former executive v.p. and general counsel of the Loan Syndications & Trading Association, has joined Latham & Watkins. She'll be counsel in the finance department of the firm's New York office. Summers was the first general counsel of the LSTA, where she worked from October 2000 to April 2005. She worked on document standardization for the secondary market and created the framework for the introduction of CUSIPs on loans.

"The reason I joined Latham and Watkins is because of the combination of the firm's banking law credentials and its broad reach across the leveraged finance platform and its strong entrepreneurial culture," she said. "Those are the things that made it most appealing."

Prior to the LSTA, she served as an associate general counsel for three years and then a deputy general counsel for about two years at Barclays Bank/Barclays Capital, Americas. She started her career at O'Melveny & Meyers in New York, where she spent eight years as an associate and then two as special counsel.
