Jonathan Calder, head of loan sales and trading at Citigroup, was named chair of the Loan Syndications and Trading Association last week at the association's annual meeting. Jack Yang, partner at Highland Capital, will continue to serve as the vice chair and Bram Smith, senior managing director at Bear Stearns, will stay on as secretary and treasurer for one more year.
This year, the LSTA will be focused on the greater use of CUSIP numbers in the market as well as continue to look at loan-only credit default swaps and total return swaps. It will also be focused on increasing education in the loan market, both in the U.S. and globally. It has conferences scheduled in London and Tokyo this year.
Along with the officers, the board of directors will include: Laura Rogers, Ares; Glenn Stewart, Bank of America; Rick Van Zijl, Barclays Capital; Tom Newberry, Credit Suisse; Dan Toscano, Deutsche Bank; Payson Swafield, Eaton Vance; Kevin Burke, GE Capital; Lisa Opoku, Goldman Sachs; Rob Milam, JPMorgan; James Seery, Lehman Brothers; Kim Humphreys, Mizuho Corporate Bank; Ian Sandler, Morgan Stanley; Rick Stewart, Nomura; Scott Krase, Oak Hill; Bob Wagner, Silverpoint Point Capital; and Barry Bobrow, Wachovia. Krase had previously served as the association's chair.
