Two servicing veterans have started up a due diligence, portfolio oversight and consulting company. Fort Worth, Texas-based Capital Markets Resource was launched in August by Laurie Magee and Jennifer Sells to focus on subprime, scratch and dent, nonperforming and reperforming loans. Although the pair had discussed starting up their own business for a while, market conditions and an increased focus on loan performance made the launch’s timing particularly fortuitous. “People have been telling us what a great time it is to start this company,” Magee laughed.
Magee was formerly at private equity fund Truman Capital, while Sells had worked at GMAC RFC before starting the company. Since then they have been working with hedge funds and Wall Street firms on loan due diligence, servicer oversight and making sure portfolios are performing as expected. Starting next year, the company will also conduct servicing evaluations, visiting servicers to check out their personnel, processes, procedures and technology.
