SEC unveils Abacus rule

The SEC wants a new rule to deal with conflicts of interest in securitisations. The rule, which it proposed on Monday, would aim to stop creators and distributors of ABS betting against investors in the securitisation within a year — the problem at the heart of the notorious Abacus 2007-AC1 CDO case, which Goldman Sachs settled with the SEC for $550m.
