Barclays Capital has hired Adam Barrett, who formerly headed financial institutions fixed-income sales at Goldman Sachs in London. A Barclays spokeswoman says he will be managing director and European head of wholesale solutions and client coverage, including transitions management. A spokeswoman at Goldman says Barrett left the firm late last year. Barrett could not be reached for comment.
Barrett had been slated to join Deutsche Bank as co-head of European fixed-income sales, say London-based fixed-income officials. However, he joined Barclays instead, which some people consider to be a coup for the firm. Antonio Lenares, head of European fixed-income sales at Deutsche Bank in London, was travelling and could not be reached for comment. Barrett will report to Neil Cummins, global sales chief. Stephanie Smart, a Deutsche Bank spokeswoman, declined to comment.
