Draghi open to ‘non-standard measures’ to support SMEs

European Central Bank president Mario Draghi confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the ECB was looking at measures to support lending to European small and medium sized businesses, with hints that the securitisation market was likely to play a role.

Draghi was at pains to add in the press conference that plans to support SME lending were still at a preliminary stage. As a result, there were no concrete details on how a supportive measure might work or what it might look like.
