Aryeh Bourkoff, high-yield cable and satellite analyst at UBS Warburg in Stamford, Conn., will add equity coverage to his research duties. It could not be determined who, if anyone, handled equity coverage previously. Bourkoff referred questions on the subject to Kris Kagel, a UBSW spokesman, who declined comment.
Bourkoff says he will provide coverage across the capital structures of cable and satellite companies to recommend whatever security he believes makes the most sense to investors, whether debt, equity or convertible. He declined to discuss the reason he is taking on the added duties. However, a UBS Warburg executive familiar with the decision making process says equity research approached Bourkoff about the job because they could find no qualified candidate outside the firm. Bourkoff is the top-ranked high-yield cable and satellite analyst on the 2002 Institutional Investor All-America Fixed-Income Research Team.
Both he and the UBS Warburg executive declined to be specific about when Bourkoff will launch his coverage.
