HSBC has hired Norm Chaleff as head of its structured finance mortgage-backed securities group in New York.
Chaleff reports to Neal Leonard and Todd White, who both joined HSBC from Lehman Brothers earlier this year as managing directors and co-heads of HSBC's nascent mortgage-backed securities business in the U.S. (BW, 5/31).
Chaleff had been doing mortgage and asset-backed consulting work before joining HSBC a few weeks ago, according to an industry insider familiar with the hire. He previously held several positions at Prudential Securities in New York, including heading up its mortgage and asset finance before leaving the firm six years ago.
Chaleff and an HSBC spokeswoman declined comment.
