KfW looks beyond Promise to support German SMEs

Basel II regulations may have rendered the original purpose of KfW’s Promise SME capital relief programme largely redundant, but the German agency is still buying SME-related German ABS and, more recently, used the programme to wrap SME loans to make them eligible for covered bond pools, an official at KfW told EuroWeek this week.
