REITS Pumping Near All New Funds Into MBS
Real estate investment trusts have been pumping near all the $26 billion they have raised in new equity over the past 18 months into mortgage-backed securities with little into mortgage-servicing rights, largely because the rights do not normally fit into the definition of an investment unless certified by the Internal Revenue Service.
