Ukraine government reveals re-privatisation law

The new law lists the ten companies to be re-nationalised

According to PM Yulia Timoshenko, the new law determines the list of tens of enterprises that should be returned to state ownership. The current owners of the enterprises receive the preferential right to redeem them. The draft law was prepared four months ago, the PM underlined.

But "stupendous lobbying" was interfering to pass the draft, Timoshenko added. At the same time, the government entrusted the State Property Fund to determine the initial cost of steel work's Krivorizhstal's 93.02% stake. It is supposed that the stake will be sold by Nov 20, 2005.

It is still unclear whether the previous Krivorizhstal owners will be granted preferential right to redeem the steel

works. Worth noting, much of the "stupendous lobbying" came from no other than Ukraine's president Viktor Yuschenko.
