Turkey's banking bill passed for cabinet approval

Bill crucial to Turkey receiving new IMF programme

Cemil Cicek, justice minister and government spokesperson, said that the IMF-required banking draft had been submitted to the ministers for their approval.

If the bill is approved by the cabinet and submitted to parliament, the government will meet one of the criteria watched by the IMF board under the standby agreement. The government should also pass the bills on social security and revenue directorate.

Deputy PM Abdullatif Sener said last week that the draft regarding the revenue directorate had been given its final shape and had been submitted to the ministers for their approval.
