The head of the EBRD office to B-H, Aygen Yayikoglu, stated at a meeting with the B-H Federation PM Ahmet Hadzipasic in Sarajevo that the bank is ready to financially assist new public or private sector projects in the country.

Yayikoglu highlighted the successful implementation of EBRD’s initiatives so far and paid special attention to the EUR 70mn credit dedicated to road infrastructure in B-H to become operational at the beginning of December. The loan will finance the construction of a 9.5 km-long beltway around Sarajevo and a 27 km-long highway stretch from Banja Luka to Gradiska.

The maturity period of the credit will be 15 years, its grace period of 4 years, along with Euribor interest rate and 1% interest margin. The other important commitment of the EBRD in 2005 will be the disbursement of EUR 120mn loan for modernization of Bosnian railways.

The Bank is also interested to partake in the building of the international Corridor Vc, running through BiH, as well as in energy sector projects. A total of EUR 12mn will be extended under local utility projects, it also became known.
