Montenegro projects EUR 150mn FDI in 2005. Montenegro expects to attract FDI of EUR 150mn

next year, the minister for foreign economic relations Gordana Djurovic announced at a press

conference. Djurovic noted that the cabinet expected FDI to come from privatisation and through

greenfield projects, in particular in the tourism sector. The target of the cabinet is within reach

considering the launch of some large privatisation deals (sale of Telekom Montenegro and Podgorica

Aluminium Plant), which are expected to be finalised in early 2005. According to the figures of the

Montenegrin central bank, net FDI amounted to EUR 36mn in H1 compared to some EUR 45mn that

were reported in 2003.

Montenegro likely to receive credit rating soon. Montenegro can receive credit rating soon, it became

clear following the press conference of the minister for foreign economic relations Gordana Djurovic.

According to her, S&P has completed an analysis on the credit rating of the country. Montenegro is one

of the last countries in the region (along with Albania) that still does not have credit rating, which is

considered a significant impediment for foreign investments. We recall that recently Serbia was

assigned B+ long-term foreign currency rating with stable outlook by S&P.
